Gah…boss-eyed cats. Much funnier and wouldn’t have felt cruel. Bit of photoshop and we’d have been away. (Thanks, ‘Jen’!)

What he said!

December 24, 2008

Frank Skinner sums up what I’ve been spluttering about for months.

“I don’t want people using so much swearing that there’s a blanket ban because there won’t be then any room for the clever swearing – the beautiful, eloquent swearing,” he said.

“So I just think we need to back off on the stuff that’s not necessary.”

Back off on the stuff that’s not necessary….well, exactly. The problem with the all-round okayness of TV swearing is that it makes the texture of our lives that much more unpleasant by increasing the level of aggression in our daily discourse. And life in the UK at the moment is plenty unpleasant already without any help from people off the telly.

Frank recently experimented with cutting swearing from his act in an attempt to freshen it up, and to show my support of this kind of thing, I’m taking back what I said about there being only one use of the f-bomb on the next series. We’re going for zero.

(Thanks, Si!)

Things that make you go ‘hmm’

December 20, 2008

Mike Connell set-up the alternate email and communications system for the White House. He was responsible for creating the system that hosted the infamous accounts that Karl Rove and others used. When asked by Congress to provide these emails, the White House said that they were destroyed. But in reality, what Connell is alleged to have done is move these files to other servers after having allegedly scrubbed the files from all “known” Karl Rove accounts.

In addition, I have reason to believe that the alternate accounts were used to communicate with US Attorneys involved in political prosecutions, like that of Don Siegelman. This is what I have been working on to prove for over a year. In fact, it was through following the Siegelman-Rove trail that I found evidence leading to Connell. That is how I became aware of him. Mike was getting ready to talk. He was frightened.”

Unfortunately, he won’t get to talk. He died in a plane crash yesterday. Link

(Update: Boy, that got up on Boing Boing fast! I agree with those who say that we shouldn’t rush to conclusions here. I am just saying hmm.)

Paramount have their cake and poo in it

December 19, 2008

You know the Tropic Thunder ‘R word’ dust-up? Well, apparently, if you had the temerity to to buy the DVD, you get this bucket of cold water poured over your head when you watch the extras.

If you’ll excuse me, that’s a completely ‘special’ decision. Either allow the joke or don’t allow it! Don’t allow it and then tut-tut the audience for laughing at it!
