Evil Religious People–Part 1 of a series

August 31, 2007

“Wiley S. Drake, a Buena Park pastor and a former national leader of the
Southern Baptist Convention, called on his followers to pray for the
deaths of two leaders of Americans United for Separation of Church and
State.” Link

  1. “I don’t believe in the separation of church and state and I believe the IRS should stay out of church business.” How’s that for having it both ways?

If we take the guy’s beliefs seriously for a moment (not easy, I know) then if it’s OK to pray for somebody’s death, and if prayer actually works, then by this guy’s faith, actually hiring a hitman should be equally acceptable.

The danger lies not with those who believe in a God, the danger lies with those who, in Stephen Hawking’s words, “know the mind of God.” Crazy fuckers.

  2. Christopher Hitchens may have departed from reality in recent years, but he nailed it recently when he said of the late Jerry Falwell “if you gave him an enema, you could bury him in a fucking shoe box.”

  3. Have you heard of Pat Condell? I came across his stuff on youtube and enjoy it, maybe you will too? Great point of views on religion coming from an atheist.
    not a spam I swear.
I enjoy your work, and while I probably won’t be interested in the US version of IT I look forward to the next season being as funny as the 1st and 1st half of the 2nd |8D. Bring back Denham!
    From Chicago, IL, US

  4. I know of Mr. Condell. He’s great.

As for Denholm. No! And the second series pees all over the first!
